Sentence atau yang dikenal sebagai kalimat merupakan sekumpulan kata yang mempunyai paling sedikit satu subject (pokok kalimat) dan satu Predicate (sebutan kalimat) serta mengandung pengertian yang sempurna atau lengkap. Atau kelompok kata yang mengungkapkan pemikiran utuh dan arti yang dapat dipahami secara jelas.A sentence dapat mencakup kumpulan kata  yang bermakna untuk mengekspresikan. Sentence Structure terdiri dari 4 macam yaitu :

a.      Simple Sentence

merupakan sentence type yang paling mendasar karena hanya terdiri dari satu independent clause

contoh :

1.     I am a teacher

2.     We work hard

b.      Compound Sentence

merupakan sentence type yang terdiri dari dua atau lebih independent clauseyang dihubungkan oleh coordinate conjunction (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)

contoh :

1.     I love my mom and my mom love me.

2.     The problem will be solved, so we must be happy.

c.       Complex Sentence

merupakan sentence type yang  terdiri dari satu independent clause dan satu atau lebih dependent clause [subordinate conjunction (although, when, because, dll) + subject + predicate]

contoh :

1.     The teacher will return the homework after he notices the error.

2.     The students are doing the homework because they will submit it tomorrow.

d.      Compound-Complex Sentence

merupakan sentence type hasil kombinasi antara compound dengan complex sentence

contoh :

1.     When I lived in South Korea, I got up at 8 o’clock but here, i get up at 5 o’clock.

2.     We decided that the movie was too violent, but our children, who like to watch scary movies, thought that we were wrong.
